Whimsy

Made this lighthearted photo of my DD and her beaux.  I told her to pick up her foot. She laughed at me.  I think it made a cute whimsical picture.

The papers are from  Graphic 45's A Lady's Diary collection.  I loved the titlle and even cut it ouf the barcode strip and used it on the layout.  The clock was cut at 5" from the Artiste cartridge.  The balloon, also from Artiste was cut at 3 inches.  I printed the definition of whimsy from my computer and grunged it up to become a tag.  The flowers were made using the same paper and cartridge.    I used Martha Stewarts punch around the page punch to make the tag pocket and glimmer misted some bias tape with the various colors of the paper to make the tag ribbon.  The bling came from Walmart.  The title was cut using Opposites Attract.  I used he upright cul font and slanted it in the Cricut Craft Room.  The bike came from a Prima freebie dowloadabe offered not too long ago on their facebook page

When I realized...

I met my stepson when he was 14.  He was a great kid then and always a source of pride to my Husband.  This year I realized he is no longer a kid.  He has the best qualities of his dad and has take on the responsiblity of a job, a girlfriend and realizes the importance of strong family values.  In his 20th year, I realized, he is now a man.

The papers are from Bo Bunny's Garden.  The title was made using old stickers I had fromyears ago.  The iron fence border used above the pic is a Halloween Punch Border from Martha Stewart.  I just tucked the bats beneath the picture mat.  I used black to match the jouraling pen.   I cut the embellishments from Art Philosophy trying to keep the circle pattern of the paper.  The border from beside and under the picture are also from Martha Stewarts border punches. The stamps are from Close to My Heart.  The buttons are from Making Memories.  I made the chevron stamp from Teresa Collins Stamp Maker to make a washi tape look.  I highlighted the year of 2012 using a white gel pen on the oval die cut beside it, which answers the question of when I realized Justin has become a man.

Honey Bunch Byrd

We just adopted an 8 year old Bichon Flise from our Preacher's wife.  Her official name on her papers is Honey Bunch Byrd.  Honey has always lived outdoors in a pen and was showing all signs of wanting to be an indoor dog.  She is doing great with her training and is even helping me with our other dog Roscoe who has been having issues with going outdoors. They are great friends and Honey seems to be a lot happier now then when have her and cuddle with her.  My husband is warming up to her, but so far, I am the only one saying..."I just love my Honey Bunch."

I used Better Together as the paper for this layout, for it sort of tells the story for all of us.  The tab came from Making Memories and the lace I got from Deb's Lace and Trims.  The embellished circle was an extra I had made from another layout using Accent Essentials some time ago.  The flower came from Artiste.  The border on the bottom was cut from Paper Trimmings. I need something in that bright pink for the bottom left corner, but am waiting for inspiration to decide what it is.  A heart just seemed too redundant.  To give the page action, for Honey is still a very active dog, I had her coming out of the frame...so she would not be so penned up, again going with the theme of the journaling.

Perfect Imperfection

My husband owns a grading company and his clothes get dirty and torn each day at work.  He is not the best dressed man I have ever met, but he definitely knows what is really important in life. If you look under the dirt you will find the best man I know.  I really will love this man forever.  Yesterday, we celebrated our 5th Anniversary.  I thought it was a good day to make a scrap of just him.

The challenge I set for myself was to embellish a 12 x 12 page without flowers.  I did use butterflies because of the theme of the journaling. He look like a caterpillar but is really a butterfly.  I have been watching the Glitter Girl Videos on Two Peas in a Bucket and have learned a lot from her in terms of design,.  This was my first attempt at her style. I am happy with it.  She uses a lot of stickers, a mixture of alphas and other expensive products. I found most can be made with a computer, household items, the tools I have and my Silhouette or Cricut.  Ths layout was made using leftover Cricut Embellies and I created the title with my silhouette.  I had the butterfly stickers in my stach from 5 years ago.  The papers I used were from Bo Bunny (Garden) Scraps of Basic Grey and My Minds Eye.  Glitter Girl also teaches you how to make your own kits from different brands.  Her rel name is Amy Heller.  This woman rocks!

CKC Charlotte Make and Take: Enjoy the Journey

I went to the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Charlotte last week.  I picked up some great goodies and made this make and take scrapbook page.

I learned how to use tulle on layouts.  You take  a 3D Gue dot and stretch it around the tulle in the center to make a bow.  Those glue dots rock.  Half of one can be stretched to tack anything down,.  I also learned how to distress a doily without tearing it.  (Circular and Slow). Other tips I picked up were stacking tags, and grouping embellishments in threes.  Also, everthing should touch, but can be broken by the embellies.

Wish I was able to take the classes.  I learned this just on a make and take. I better start saving now for next year. :)

Bring it On

This is a picture of our Grandson on his vacation at the beach.  He had a grand time.Rhylen is all boy and ready for anything, just like his Uncle Justin. He is a wonderful child.

I used the Hopscotch cartridge to make all of the papers and Boys Will Be Boys for the elements.  I loved the plane with the banner which is fairly common at the beach.  The pebble was made using a Close to my Heart stamp on white paper and glued to the back. I love how it magnifies the image.  I also inked some of the element with Blue Denim Distress Ink.  The title was from the CCR Basics design set.

Happy Anniversary Card

On August 18th, my DH and I will be celebrating our 5th anniversary.  I made this card for the event.

The card was made by first printing a whole 8x11.5 sheet of white cardstock with my printer using a Silhouette pattern paper.  I then flipped it over and made the card using another pattern on the Silhouette.  I found the vintage photo on the Graphics Fairy blog.  The tickets were printed using Marion Smith's Jourey Prntable book and the flowers were cut usng the Cricut Flower Shoppe cartidge.  The doily was also cut on the cricut using Teresa Collins Basics found in the Cricut Craftroom Exclusives selection.  The inside pop-up heart was cut using the Silhouette and the sides were punched usin a Martha Stewarts Deep Edge Punch in hearts.
